Adding to the Start Menu and Taskbar
This document provides instructions on how to add items to the Start Menu and Taskbar in Windows 10. The Start Menu and Taskbar are used to quickly access programs you use on a regular basis.
Add Items to the Start Menu
1. Locate the program you want to add to the Start Menu. There are two ways to do this:
a. Click the Windows icon in the lower left corner and scroll to the location of the program.
i. Right click on the name of the program and click Pin to Start.
b. Click the Windows icon in the lower left corner and start to type the name of the program.
i. After the name of the program appears in the list, right click on the name and click Pin to Start.
2. After the program’s icon has been added to the Start Menu, you can right click on the icon and choose Resize to make the icon small or medium sized. Medium is the default size.
3. You can also drag the icons on the Start Menu around to group them.
4. If you want to remove an icon from the Start Menu, right click on the icon and choose Unpin from Start.
Add Items to the Taskbar
1. Locate the program you want to add to the Taskbar. There are two ways to do this:
a. Click the Windows icon in the lower left corner and scroll to the location of the program.
i. Right click on the name of the program and click More and select Pin to Taskbar.
b. Click the Windows icon in the lower left corner and start to type the name of the program.
i. After the name of the program appears in the list, right click on the name and select Pin to Taskbar.
2. If you want to remove an icon from the Taskbar, right click on the icon and choose Unpin from Taskbar.
