Using Google Voice on a Computer

This document provides information about Google Voice calling and system features.

1. Navigate to https://voice.google.com/


2. Login with a Google Account.
a. To setup a Google Account please refer to our Google Voice - Setting Up an Account Knowledge Base document. 

Use the following Quick Links to navigate this document





1. The Google Voice home screen has three sections. 
a. Left
i.   Call tab
ii.  Text tab
iii. Voice Mail tab
b. Middle
i.   Call Information
ii.  Text Messages
iii. Voicemail Message/Transcription
c. Right
i.   Call as number
ii.  Enter a phone number/call field
iii. Suggestions (Saved Google Contacts)
iv.  Keypad

2. Audio Settings
a. Click on the Headset icon located in the top right of the screen.

     

b. Change the default settings by clicking the drop down in each section and selecting another device.

     
3. Sign out of Google Voice.
a. Click on your Profile Picture located in the top right of the screen.

     

b. Click on Sign out

     




A phone number can be entered by using the computer keyboard keys or the Google Voice keypad.
1. Enter a phone number.
a. Type in the number

     

i. Click the Call Button.

     

2. Use the Call Log.
a. Select the Calls tab on the left side of the screen

     

b. Select a recent call.

     

c. Click the Call button.

     

i. Call button in the Call Log section.

     

ii. Call button in the Information section. 

     



3. Voicemail Call-back.
a. Select the Voicemail tab on the left side of the screen.

     

b. Select a Voicemail.

     

c. Click the Call button in the Information section.

     




Receiving A Call

1. The computer audio will ring and a call notification will pop-up. Click on the green Answer button.

     

2. The caller will be required to identify themselves and their voice recording will be played back to you.

3. Press 1 to accept the call, press 2 to send it to voicemail.
a. This can be done on the on-call Keypad or the Keyboard Number buttons.

     

4. To end the call click on the red End button.

     




1. Select the Voicemail tab on the left side of the screen.

     

2. Select a Voicemail.

     

a. Voicemails that are unread will be bold.

3. The Information section will have a Transcription of the message along with the the Audio Recording that can be played.

     





1. Click on the Settings Icon located in the top right of the page.

     

2. Select the Calls tab on the left side of the screen.

     

3. Locate the Call forwarding option.

     

a. Click the toggle button to disable it. 
i. Green Toggle: Enabled

     

ii. Gray Toggle:  Disabled

     

4. Locate the My Devices option.

     

a. Click the toggle button to disable it. 
i. Green Toggle: Enabled

     

ii. Gray Toggle:  Disabled
